The Basic Skincare Regimen to Clear Skin!
So often people ask me, “How can I get clear skin?” or “What can I do to fix my face?”. First of all, your face is not broken, you just need to take a little extra care of it. The skin is the largest organ on the human body, so of course it needs constant cleansing and moisture. When you think about how much exposure your face gets on a daily basis, whether you’re constantly on the run, at the gym, at work, or at home, your face will naturally collect a certain amount of debris that needs to be removed daily. Which is why it is also important to get a professional skincare facial, at least once a month, to experience that ever important deep cleansing. Experienced estheticians, like myself, use additional products with more intense ingredients, that should only be used occasionally. Important to note: Extractions are something you should only let a professional do, or you could develop scars or even damage your pores, causing more harm than good.
People do not believe me when I say that it really is easy to care for and maintain healthy facial skin… it just requires a consistent regimen. Just know that there are only (5) steps, combined with effective products that you should following morning and night. It might sound like a lot but it only takes 5 min!
CLEANSE: This is the first step. It’s easy to do and is best to understand your skin first. If you have oily skin you want to use a gel cleanser, if you have dry skin you want to use a creamy type cleanser and if you have normal skin you want to find a cleanser that does not leave your face feeling tight and dry. You want to apply the cleanser with warm water, using your clean hands or a brush is perfectly fine. 1 min of simply washing and rinsing.
TONE: You want to use a toner, preferably one with no alcohol, to help remove any leftover debris, as well as help open your pores when moisturizing your skin. Simply apply the toner with a cotton round and wipe your face and neck. Also, if you want to use more of a natural product, Witch Hazel will work for you. This step takes only 30 seconds.
MOISTURIZER: This is a step that will keep your face supple and hydrated. Even if you have oily skin you need a moisturizer. In fact, oily skin is only oily because it is so dehydrated that your face produces oils to compensate for the lack of moisture. By finding the right moisturizer you can actually reduce your the redness and oiliness of your skin!
SUNSCREEN FOR DAY: It is more important to apply sunscreen to protect your face from the elements. Even if you think you are not in the sun, your face gets reflections of uva and uvb rays. And sun damage takes year to come to the surface but once it does it take a lot more work and products to remove it. So let us prevent this from happening now and keep the melanin as low as possible! NIGHT CREAM FOR NIGHT: A night cream is essential for all skin types. While asleep overnight, your face goes the longest without any products and it needs to be nourished during this time. Your skin will appreciate you in the morning. When you wake up in the morning, I promise you, your skin will feel refreshed.
